Manage sign-in, users and permissions

On this page

Give each person the access their job requires. Manage application users in the project’s controls; the Platform account’s users are a separate audience.

Project users: choose preview or production before managing application access.
Project users: choose preview or production before managing application access.
  1. Open the project controls and choose the relevant application scope.
  2. Open the users view. Invite a synthetic test user or update an existing user’s permitted role.
  3. Review permissions and their default holders.
  4. Add or revoke grants for the relevant user, group or organization entity.
  5. Sign in to the app as that test user and try both an allowed and a restricted action.
  6. Repeat in production before opening the app to real users.

Authentication answers “Who signed in?” Authorization answers “May this person do this?” A successful sign-in does not grant every permission.

For Task Grove, a member should update an assigned task while a manager can manage the team’s projects. Include that behavior in the story and verify it after development.

Use organization management when customers need separate access. Pro supports independent production sign-in; use publishing to configure the production audience and redirect addresses.
